Spring is on the Rise in Sundown

Image
My Dearie has retired but his supervisor tendencies did not.  So he is the heavy lifter for our spring cleaning and I am the decorator/ accessory arranger!  lol  I am the planner and he is the implementer!  He also schedules the coffee breaks! I luv planning and all the fabric and plans I had for the old farmhouse are revamped for our new life here in Sundown.  The population is maybe 50 but the deer certainly have us outnumbered!  But they don't eat fabric so I can lay out all my spring fabric plans and assign baggies and ideas to each room. We eased into the whole process with our spare room and here is the almost blank slate.  Cooler palette with my favourite aquas showcased and for spring the yellow bedspread.  This room welcomes guests and most weekends, the grand girls!    They have a doll cupboard that needed some attention and it took a goodly part of the morning.  Some of my fabric choices.  Gee I wish I wasn't so OCD!  Choices???

Whats done, is almost done!

Sort of. Because February and looks like March are spring cleaning/house decor months, I wanted to wrap up all the Paris odds and ends. The blocks for the Paris lap quilt are finally done.   Then I waited for my design wall to arrive. Oh, I was so happy to set it up.  3 panels of notched styrofoam 2' x 8'.  Perfect!  Of course I had to make another 10 of the four patch blocks.  But I think it is looking good.  But I have loads of spare blocks.  I don't really want it bigger so maybe some for the backing and some for my traveling companion!  I hate when this happens but I really thought I had the math figured this time!  grrrr Same time the panels arrived hubby also came home with my box for my journal.  ooh, bright red and kinda big???  I can get creative and I do have stuff that didn't fit in the journal.  I gessoed, painted, and crackled. In between listening to my dear supervisor plan the spring cleaning, and YES, I am eternally thankful for

Creative replays (and a rant)

Its been one of those weeks! Much as I'd have liked to plunge into the Spring projects I  recalled to mind my motto- Finish what you start!!!  So... I am back to Paris! I worked on my blocks for the Paris quilt.  Sure enough my math is off.  I did lay them out on the bed but this is not a good plan because there is no way I can get the top all sewn before I actually need the bed for what it is meant for.  zzzzz  I need that design wall. I did spend some time working on the blocks I will need.    oops!  Found 10 more of those wee centres but I do think I have enough. Haircuts and a lunch for Valentine's Day was close by the lumber yard but terribly high winds meant that the styrofoam would not have survived the ride home so we postponed that part of the Valentine present.  We got stuck in the driveway from the snow and winds on the return journey.  A red letter day for sure, just maybe not all lovely heart shaped. I spent some of the evening adding extras t

sew January

January is sew garments month.  I joined a sew a long and with not too terribly much procrastinating I did accomplish a thing or three!  And the sewdio got all cleaned!  First I determined a colour palette.  My pinks need upgrading and some additions.  Then, of course, I had to order some fabric.  I am going to take the plunge into using knits. I also ordered patterns for knits and read up on the 'how to' aspects.  A bit intimidating.  The vest pattern I considered required more fabric than I had.  Maybe I needed to ease into all this first.  So I found a cotton skirt I had cut out last year.  Kinda rosey pink.  Not an whole lot of ease but my dearie has instituted morning exercises so the ease problem could solve itself.  ;^) I couldn't resist inluding this small amount of quilting fabric in my knit order.  It does actually have a bit of blush pink in it.  I'm not really into 'cute' fabric but this just said 'happy'!  Patterns a
