The Nature of Things

When I grasped the nuances of the colour wheel many things just fell into place.  It shows up in my organizing supplies, meal planning and table decor, home decorating, wardrobe planning and garden design. After buying my first colour wheel many seasons ago, I was inspired to plant a wildflower garden in a circular design at the far edge of the farm yard.  The very centre would be pastels and birdhouses on fence posts.  It was huge and I meticulously planted tiny plugs of native grasses and wild flowers.  Then the chickens came over to see what was happening in the new development!  Those plugs didn't stand a chance and any I found gave no clue as to what was a root and what was topmost plant!  VBSigh So I retreated back to the house and organized my borders into compatible but monochromatic colour groupings.  I did learn lots.  Mostly NOT to be quite so ambitious. So here I am with a new new location and a blank slate.   My favourite sections had been the white

I have been spending time with my first cup of coffee in my newly organized desk area.  :^) We ended last week with a big mess on the desk.   I began to sort and what didn't actually go into the circular file went in a designated spot.   I got things in place then decided to really do it up and organized my memorabilia in individual baskets.  Then I was dismayed to discover an whole lot of journal stuff for small 3 ring binders.  My individual family ones are two hole.  Ah, I had made the grand kiddoes ones a few years ago.  Did they want more stuff???  YAY!!!!  So I spent a day making up three kid specific bundles.  That got rid of much!!! All this made me rethink how I actually like to journal.  This is a good thing as I won't be buying supplies that don't work for me.  Yay!  Done.  hmmmm The school room sort had dealt with one cupboard, 4 drawers of various plain neutral paper and card stock.  That left the other cupboard of coloured and pattern

Organizing Creatively

I really do like organizing things.  Especially if I can colour code and have matching baskets and binders, and lovely shelves.  And January always pulls hard at my organizing fingers. First time my grand students returned for art 1010 we tackled the art room.  First to go was that standing chalk board as it took up way to much real estate.  The layout of the whole hobby room is good but we did tighten up the far wall.  The white baskets have craft supplies for the kiddoes general use but I doubt they really look in them so that was the biggest change.   In use Ready for use   In the beginning Midway We pushed my stamp cupboard right to the wall which eliminated all the long stuff hidden in the corner.  The girls organized the stencils and Joshua took all the scrap book itsy bitsy stuff from the one cupboard and that now holds paper, white, card stock and construction paper while the other still has the scrap booking paper. Paper just does better when it l

Seeing 2020

In defence of my absence I have had some set backs as this new year approached. After last grandchild completed their gifts I collapsed.  I had some kind of vicious virus that apparently was really 3 viruses that whammied the patient every time hope loomed.  I never went to the hospital  which are maxed out anyway.  But  'he who nursed me' almost had his hand on speed dial until my fever broke.  He was there with the liquids and chicken soup.   I seemed to have lingering energy issues but I did actually make it to the grand kiddies Christmas party and everyone was impressed with all their efforts.  It was an excellent time.  Tradition says we bring our jammies and stay over on Christmas eve.  When the noise gets too much we head home the next day.  Such a great time that we left just before dark. I knew I was on the mend when I went down to sort out the mess in the hobby room! I also quit taking an afternoon nap before new years so all is well! I woke up at
