Spring in Sundown

Image
Finally we have warmth and sun and green shoots.  Time to speed things up.  Instead of saving everything for one kinda long, maybe too long, post;  I am thinking of my motto- KISS, (keep it simple, sweetie).  So quick bursts it will be. A huge stumbling block to my creativity was the Paris journal which took up valuable real estate. Not to mention the mess!  I had all the itinerary roughly in place.  I think its sheer size intimidated me. But I was determined this would really be a completed project.   I kept gluing and embellishing in the evenings all last week and every bit of ephemera went either into the journal or its box.   Done.  The wee Eiffel tower has been lost and found for the last time.   It is tied and stapled to the box where it dangles down. The memory box  has a resting spot by my bedside.  I do have good memories! With a clear counter and some more 1 oz. jars I could make more variations for my personal palette.  I only need to empty two more sample j

I'm figuring a creative future

I have done some spring cleaning.  I have also done some spring dreaming considering it is still too cold outside.  I have read too many books.  I have joined several free online classes.  I have ordered a few, maybe more that a few, supplies.   I have cleaned my playroom and messed it all back up again.  I have started at least half a dozen new things after almost vowing not to do that anymore and have I have finished none.  Winter is past and I just know That Dandelion is just waiting to be the first fruit of many.  Spring will burst forth in all its green glory and I will be torn between my playroom and my playground. I did the 30 day Closet Shopping Collective every single day and I have got new looks for whenever we can get out and about although lots are just the casual around home kind of ensembles. I got through all the videos for the Sketchbook Revival and learned a thing or three!  In fact it brought to the fore my luv for making Journals!  It was the one video I

Bookmaking 101

A journal is: a service book containing the day  hours   a: record of current transactions; b: an account of day-to-day events;  c: a record of experiments, ideas, or reflections Some journals record history and famous works of art.  The artist's sketch books become art. And I have made lots of them.  There are various styles and each can serve different purposes. Some are simple and are made from paper.  The kind of paper would depend on the purpose.   Leonardo da Vinci was famous for keeping journals.  The grand kiddoes and I spent a couple of lessons learning about him and then made a simple journal.  To get the vintage look we used coffee water to satin brown kraft paper with splatters and stains.  The pages were stacked and then 2 holes were punched and the booklet was tied together. Easy Peasy!  A variation of this would be to fold pages in half and thread the cord/string through holes in the fold.  This is the same process for making signature

Hopping To It

Belated Happy Easter.  No, that wasn't the doorbell.  Just an amaturish attempt at a selfie!!!  lol Belated because with no crucial deadlines, interrupted to-do lists and a social calendar that has blank spots one finds time isn't quite as demanding of punctuality as it once was. I do have plans. The Shopping of the Closet 30 day plan isn't so much about new as looking at some concepts a bit differently.  Week 1 was identifying favourite things;  week 2 was completing  your look; week 3 was mixing dynamic opposition elements.  I know about mixing refinement levels and do it lots but feminine/masculine, casual/dressy, sweet/salty, long/short, slim/full etc.  really opened it up more. Some of the sketchbook revival focused on mixed media and some on the more mental process.  One session was a monthly chart to track what you expected to accomplish.  This kinda resonated and I will try that.  The last lesson I watched was the preparation for the course and it
