Dressing the Creative Personality



When I knew we would be selling and moving I determined to jump start some changes in our lifestyle.

What would age appropriate  dressing look like? I had no idea when I pressed the enter search button that such a fun journey was about to begin!I started with Out with black and frumpy and I learned buckets.


We change as we age!  a novel idea to me.  From a high contrast winter palette to a medium/low summer.  And I have to admit the bright high contrast palette always stressed me a bit.  Hindsight should have told me that less contrast suited my personality better but I was a traditionalist rule follower way back then.. I have gotten more feisty as the white hair overtook the brown.
Learning how to be a fashionista chic has been a slow but upward climb and now I am a selfie queen! Not to show the world-  GASP;  but to study myself because mirrors distort and photos don't lie!   Joining the style club has made me knowledgeable enough to do a fashion blog but not enough time in my senior lifestyle to digress.  You have been spared.  Well, maybe a few posts will find their way into the creative mix.  A spring capsule, perhaps?   Kinda like playing paper dolls but it works!


In the middle of all the spring clothes capsule is a piece of fabric.  It is perfect for the skirt that so coordinates with all the capsule elements.  I need to embrace sewing garments.  

But more important I finally understand the Briggs Meyers test and how being an INFP affects my whole creative life.  Life changing!  And as an INFP,  I Need to blog, I Need to Create, I Need to write, I Need to try and explore a dozen different things. And I NEED to play and have fun!  It also explains why I have about a six month attention span on my tangents!

Tis the time to dream big and experience an eclectic spring!

Whats done, is almost done!

Sort of. Because February and looks like March are spring cleaning/house decor months, I wanted to wrap up all the Paris odds and ends. The blocks for the Paris lap quilt are finally done.   Then I waited for my design wall to arrive. Oh, I was so happy to set it up.  3 panels of notched styrofoam 2' x 8'.  Perfect!  Of course I had to make another 10 of the four patch blocks.  But I think it is looking good.  But I have loads of spare blocks.  I don't really want it bigger so maybe some for the backing and some for my traveling companion!  I hate when this happens but I really thought I had the math figured this time!  grrrr Same time the panels arrived hubby also came home with my box for my journal.  ooh, bright red and kinda big???  I can get creative and I do have stuff that didn't fit in the journal.  I gessoed, painted, and crackled. Harvesting the Last of Summer

Summer is sending leaves drifting down to carpet the grass.  Dustings of frost now dull the colours.  All too soon  the coverings will be deeper and whiter as the drifts reshape the landscape. But I am getting ahead of myself.  Three cheers for the hope of a long and glorious fall!  I DO hope! The trees are changing colour and dropping their leaves.  This is the mixed trees at the back edge of the property which has only made it a future to-do list.  Interesting though as it has spruce, pines, lilacs, carraganas and some amur maples among  others in it.  We have been working on the poison ivy and clearing out deadfall in the woodlot at the front edge of the property.  Now doesn't that sound better than 'the bush'! The garden has been harvested except for some of the root crops and as the soup list fills then that too will be ready for tilling.  That grape is in a low spot and shall be moved.  My Man now 'gets' that relocating p...

Really Ready

I am really, really, Really,  ready to do Spring. The playroom switcheroo turned out to be more than I expected but I am very pleased.   The pale green yardage hanging down from drawers is kinda flimsy for quilting but will make a nice curtain over the garment sewing bookshelf.  (I am having a hard time to convince my handy man to centre that odd shaped mirror over my big table.  It is unfortunately hard to hang considering I have it hung contrary to the approved orientation. vbsigh) Then I decided to quiet the naggy voice that said I had never really purged those drawers and only reloaded them when we moved.  Age plus experience equals smarter.  So I embraced reality and pitched lots of those what if's and I coulds...  Very gratifying.  This photo doesn't show all the fat quarters but do please notice there is room for them and they aren't overwhelming.  I also have a miscellaneous shelf!  Whoo hoo!  The drawers ...
